Understanding the numbers
What the metrics in these screenshots mean
Google Ads reports can be confusing. Here is a plain-English explanation of the numbers we focus on.
Conversions
A conversion is recorded when someone takes a tracked action: a phone call, a form submission, or another key action you care about. More conversions means more leads coming through.
Cost per lead
How much you spent to generate one conversion. Lowering cost per lead while maintaining lead quality is one of the main goals of weekly optimisation.
Conversion rate
The percentage of clicks that turned into a conversion. A higher conversion rate means more of your ad spend is turning into actual enquiries.
Impressions and clicks
Impressions show how often your ads appeared. Clicks show how many people acted on them. Click-through rate (CTR) is the ratio between the two.
